Workers' Compensation

Keeping Your Employees Safe

Safety is of paramount importance for practices both large and small. But an often-overlooked part of safety and protection is workers' compensation (WC) insurance.

WC goes beyond the preconceived notions of a pulled muscle or falling off a ladder. In the medical field, there are more risks for employees to become injured on the job. Getting stuck by a needle, contracting a disease from bodily fluids, becoming injured due to handling a patient, or getting involved in a car accident while running a work-related errand could all trigger a claim.

Workers' Compensation Insurance

Ensuring your employees' safety from injury is a major priority to keep your business thriving. Workers' Compensation Insurance covers employees' medical bills, which may include prescriptions and physical therapy to treat work-related injuries, and partial compensation for wages lost due to absence from work. Many states have laws requiring employers to carry workers' compensation coverage for more than 2 employees. There is a broad view of who is considered an employee under their laws to include, full-time, part-time, temporary workers, minors, trainees, and uninsured contractors. You can be penalized/fined by the state in which you operate if required coverage is not in place. Policy premiums are based on payroll, and rates filed by the state.
