On December 1, 2023, Professional Risk Associates (PRA) bid a fond farewell to its founder, CEO, and President, John Glander.
Glander founded PRA in 1989 with only himself and a single employee. Their mission was to deliver high-quality and creative liability insurance solutions to medical professionals throughout the Mid-Atlantic. At the inception of this new company, Glander focused primarily on growing the business from just a handful of clients to becoming one of the largest agencies in the country specializing in physician medical malpractice.
Since its establishment, PRA has protected thousands of insureds by securing comprehensive medical professional liability coverage. Today, PRA’s dedicated team of 26 employees all share the company’s core values of delivering premium insurance solutions with unparalleled customer service.
As the medical professional liability industry changed, PRA also expanded its lines of coverage under Glander, as he bought in new talents to help focus on any liability insurance line that could impact medical practices. The company has always been eager to invest in new services that could improve its insureds’ experience. In addition, PRA created an avenue of charitable volunteer work and contributions to help many healthcare-related organizations and causes.
Glander’s dedication extended beyond the insureds, as his leadership has fostered a close-knit community for the employees and an unprecedented office culture. In 2002, Glander instituted an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) for PRA. This transition made every employee of the company an owner.
Glander’s retirement marks a new era for PRA, but he is confident that with their strong foundations and new leadership, PRA will continue to flourish. As for himself, Glander is looking forward to enjoying his free time with his family and is eager to pursue his personal interests.
On behalf of everyone here at PRA, we wish John nothing but the best in the next chapter of his life.
Please join us in congratulating and extending good wishes to John.
